Meet the Founder: Miss A — The Passion Behind Study Smartly
Behind every great study resource is a teacher who believes in her learners — and for Study Smartly, that teacher is Miss A, the passionate Life Sciences and Natural Sciences educator who started it all.
💡 From the Classroom to a Digital Study Space
Miss A has been teaching Life Sciences and Natural Sciences to Grades 8–12 learners for several years. She holds both a Bachelor of Education degree (majoring in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Natural Sciences) and a Bachelor of Education Honours degree in Curriculum Studies, both proudly obtained from the University of Johannesburg.
Her deep love for teaching and science inspired her to look beyond the classroom walls — and that’s where Study Smartly began.
🌱 The Birth of Study Smartly
Study Smartly started in 2023 as a simple digital platform for Miss A’s Grade 12 learners. The goal was to create a space where they could access resources anytime, anywhere — especially outside of the classroom and WhatsApp groups.
What started as a tool for her own learners quickly grew into something much bigger. As her students began to share and recommend the platform, Miss A realised there was a greater need — a need to help learners across South Africa study better, smarter, and more effectively.
📱 Taking Learning to TikTok
This year, Miss A expanded Study Smartly’s reach to TikTok after noticing how often her learners referenced educational videos from the platform. She saw an opportunity to meet students where they already were — online.
Through @StudySmartly_, she now shares study tips, motivation, and short, effective learning content that makes studying Life Sciences engaging and relatable.

“People always tell me I should’ve done computer science,” she laughs, “and maybe they’re right — but this way, I get the best of both worlds.”
